The Father wants us to live and walk this journey of life as family. He is Father…we are sons and daughters…a family. A family has to learn to live in close quarters with each other! Strong families have learned to walk together through difficult situations. How we deal with offense reveals our individual and our family’s spiritual maturity.
In a practical way to do this, Jesus gave a really plain example for us to follow in our daily prayers and view of life:
“Forgive us of our trespasses, as we forgive those who trespass against us.”
TD Jakes says: “That is the scariest verse in the whole bible...because I am asking God to treat me like I treat those with whom I’ve been offended.”
I’ve become intensely aware of how forgiveness and faith are totally linked! See Mark 11:22-25 and Luke 17:1-10. Jesus said that while we are praying in faith for mountains in our life to be removed, we are to forgive!
Jesus also said: "forgive the same person 7x per day when they sin against you." His disciples immediately respond: “Increase our faith!”
I would love for you guys to watch an awesome YouTube sermon that deals with this! It’s named “Faith to Forgive” by TD Jakes, click on below.
“Increase my faith to believe that no weapon formed against me shall prosper! When you really believe that promise, then anything or anyone who comes against your spiritual calling doesn’t matter anyway. It means that you may be delayed, but you won’t be denied. It may mean that I’ve been set back, but I am an overcomer. If you have the faith, then why are you still mad?” TD Jakes
